Significance of Indian Marble

Why Makrana marble used in carving and sculpting?
- Makrana Marble is one of two calcite marble varieties in India with all others being dolomitic.
- This Marble does not require any special treatment and is used in cutting and chiseling straight away.
- Makrana Marble has a high percentage of calcium and is therefore resistant to water seepage, Makrana marble is said to be the lowest among all types in India. The marble contains 98% of Calcium Carbonate and only 2% of impurity, this property helps it to stay the same proportion of white for a long period, because of its content. The polish of this marble consider is the best. The close interlocking of marble makes it strong, hard and translucent it is said to retain its white color and shine for long period.
